Helping People, Helping Pets
Kitsap Humane Society is proud to be an ambassador of Greater Goods Charities’ “GOODS Program.”
GOODS is a program that distributes food, essential supplies, clothing, housewares, toys, and more to pet and people in need around the world. The GOODS Program has a holistic approach that helps the whole family, providing food and supplies for people and pets in need and is one of the providers for KHS’ Pet Food Pantry.
The increase in poverty, food insecurity, and domestic violence over the past several years has affected families, including their pets, resulting in a greater need for food and essential supplies around the globe for both people and pets alike.
To date, the GOODS Program has delivered more than 660 million pet meals, 5 million pet pharmaceutical doses, and 7,600 truck deliveries full of food and supplies to areas in need.
GOODS sources and manages excess, re-branded, and short-dated food and supplies from donors including manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. GOODS then makes these products available to qualified and approved distribution groups (ambassadors) who ensure they reach the organizations that need them.
The GOODS distribution network consists of thousands of charitable partners including animal welfare organizations, food banks, Veteran Affairs locations, and other qualified agencies.
The GOODS Program uses a sustainable hub-and-spoke model similar to a food bank. That is, the goods are donated, but freight, warehouse, and program costs are met by handling fees and donations.
As a GOODS ambassador, Kitsap Humane Society is seeking qualified partners to help distribute goods to those who need them throughout the Kitsap Peninsula and beyond. If your organization is interested in partnering with us in this endeavor, please download the Greater Good Charities Partnership Application and email the completed application to lchastain@kitsap-humane.org.
