KHS Animal Rescue Helps Save Horse
March 5, 2012
A rescue mission for a horse stuck in a drainage ditch was successful this weekend in South Kitsap. Animal Rescue officers from Kitsap Humane Society along with personnel from South Kitsap Fire & Rescue and Bethel Towing worked together to retrieve the horse from the ditch. The frantic owner called Kitsap Animal Rescue, saying his horse had fallen into a drainage ditch and was stuck in mud up to his belly.
Dr. Bo Weeks assisted on the medical side, and after four hours, the mission was successful and the horse was pulled from the ditch. The horse had been in the ditch overnight and, although weak, was able to stand up on his own.
