Love is Such a Simple Thing
August 20, 2011
“Oh, but anyway, Toto, we’re home. Home! And this is my room, and you’re all here. And I’m not gonna leave here ever, ever again, because I love you all, and – oh, Auntie Em – there’s no place like home!” ~Dorothy, “The Wizard of Oz” A forever home. As employees of the Kitsap Humane Society, that is all we want for each and every animal. Why? Simply because we love them. Love is such a simple thing. Love is a virtue, representing all of human kindness, compassion and affection. We are concerned with their well-being and invest ourselves in bonding and identifying with them. After all, who could not love these animals? Animals are without judgment. They don’t lie, and they don’t hate. There is no prejudice against, race, class or religion. They forgive and forget. They simply love us without question. Animals have feelings and emotions, their own intelligence and their own way of communicating. We love when a dog runs up to lick our face and dances with joy when we get home, or how a cat curls up and purrs in our lap. They inspire our imaginations, thrill our spirits and tug at our heartstrings. We buy them sweaters, special treats, and take them to the dentist. They are our family members. When one dies, we take it hard because a part of our family has died with them. We have had burials in our backyard for them and funerals for them. And yes, we grieve for them after they are gone. We want each and every one of the animals here at Kitsap Humane Society to feel that love in a forever home. Please help be a part of making an animal’s dream come true and adopt today. After all, there really is no place like home. ~Heather Kite, KHS Animal Coordinator
