Jena is a Diamond in the Rough

August 9, 2016

Hello, my name is Jena (Intake #56721) and I’m an adorable, petite Shepherd-Kelpie-Shiba mix who is only about 44 pounds! I was found in rough shape by Animal Control Officers. My nails were so long I could barely walk comfortably and my skin so raw that petting was uncomfortable and I had missing and broken teeth. I arrived at the shelter super scared, but after lots of TLC, I’ve really blossomed. I’m still pretty nervous in the loud kennel building, so I’m spending my days in a staff office which I love. I’m good on a leash and even housetrained and crate trained. I’m happy to lay quietly at your feet on my doggie bed. I love having my face pet and I’m gentle and sweet. I can be nervous with new people, but in a patient, loving home, I will learn to trust human friends again. I’m on medication for my skin infections and I’m already looking and feeling much better. Since my nails have been clipped, I’ve also loved going on walks through the woods and spending time enjoying the play yard. I like treats and will be happy to learn new things when treats are involved. If you’re looking for a diamond in the rough, I’m the dog for you. Just ask to meet me at the front desk when you arrive. You can meet me and other adoptable animals at Kitsap Humane Society, open six days a week.
