Port Orchard Cat Program Extended!
June 26, 2015
Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) is happy to announce that our Community Cat Program in Port Orchard, funded by PetSmart Charities, has been extended from July to November, and expanded from just the 98366 zip code to the 98367 zip code as well! Through the Community Cat Program, residents of Port Orchard who own outdoor cats, or who feed outdoor stray or feral cats, can get FREE spay/neuter surgery, ear-tip (to prevent re-trapping) and rabies vaccinations through KHS. The program also provides loaner traps, volunteer training, neighborhood canvassing, and transportation assistance for surgery appointments. The program aims to prevent unwanted litters of kittens, improve the health of community cats, and decrease the noise, marking, roaming and aggressiveness associated with un-altered male cats. KHS hopes to help 800-1000 Port Orchard cats by November through this program, and close to 600 cats have been helped so far.
