KITSAP HUMANE SOCIETY AT CAPACITY;
FOSTER HOMES AND ADOPTERS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY
Silverdale, WA – Like most animal shelters across the country, Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) is at capacity and is asking for the public’s help in finding temporary or permanent homes for its resident companion animals. As a part of this effort, KHS is announcing an across-the-board flat adoption fee of $50 for all cats and large dogs older than six months, throughout the month of November.
These discounted adoption fees are in response to an overwhelming number of strays in recent weeks, putting the organization over capacity in both its dog and cat housing facilities.
“We have enough space for about 55 dogs and 100 cats here at the shelter,” said KHS Communications Director Mike Bush. “Unfortunately, because of the tremendous influx of strays over the past couple of weeks, we are at capacity and urgently need to find homes for these terrific animals.”
Anyone who is interested in fostering a dog or cat, either long- or short-term, please visit www.kitsap-humane.org/get-involved/foster-care/. If you are interested in adopting an animal, the shelter is open for adoptions from noon to 5 p.m., every day except Tuesdays. KHS is asking those who find a healthy and friendly stray dog or cat to hold onto them and follow the KHS recommendations in reuniting them with their person rather than bringing them to the shelter. Those recommendations can be found here: https://www.kitsap-humane.org/resources/lostfound-pets/.
