KHS Construction Update 8/18/23
August 28, 2023
Well, it looks like we have ourselves a good ol’ fashioned Barn raisin’.
Yesterday morning, we were greeted with a very, very welcome surprise. The first rebar-outfitted posts for The Barn were hoisted into place and we can finally see where the structure will stand. What’s more, the wooden forms for the concrete landscape curbing have been knocked off, giving us a good picture what will soon be. By this time next week, rafters will be hung, walls will be framed out, and roofing sheets will be placed.
Back at the oh-so-close-to-being-occupied Russ and Linda Young Veterinary Lifesaving Center, we received a pretty big delivery, as the generator that will power the entire campus (except the Annex) was craned into its new home at the back of the property. Also, the “fire lane” curbs have been painted – which is a surprisingly fascinating process to watch. Bottom line, things are moving fast and the excitement is palpable. It’s a pretty great time to be a part of Kitsap Humane Society.
Speaking of a great time, we have two more Wine & Whiskers pop-up events this week – the first is happening tomorrow afternoon (Saturday, August 19, 1-4 p.m.) at Sinclairs Twenty-Two in Port Orchard and the second on Sunday, August 20 at d’Vine Bistro in Kingston, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. And just a reminder: you have until August 26 to bid on a whole host of collectibles, art, furnishings, and more at the Blue Nest Home online auction benefiting KHS. Browse and shop without even leaving home!
