Pet of the Week — Liko
August 23, 2021
Meet Liko! Liko is a handsome, 4-year-old Bull Terrier mix that’s looking for a companion to help him learn how to ‘dog.’ Liko came to the Pacific Northwest all the way from Hawaii, where he didn’t get much training or socialization during his formative years. Now, Liko is adjusting to life as an inside dog and learning to trust humans. Liko is working on leash training but will take any opportunity he can to roam freely, so he needs a securely fenced-in yard and supervision anytime he’s outside. Liko hasn’t quite gotten the hang of playing with toys and hasn’t yet learned how awesome getting pets and snuggles with people can be. Hopefully with some time, lots of yummy treats, and a whole lot of patience, Liko will learn that humans are awesome and come to enjoy pets and snuggle time. In the meantime, he would love a home with people who will respect his space and not force him to do too many new, scary things too quickly. Liko needs someone who understands his needs and doesn’t mind taking the time to build a long-lasting relationship with him based on trust and positive reinforcement. He needs a home that isn’t an apartment, as high traffic areas are not a good match for him and he needs a home with children 12 and older to maintain a calm and quiet place for him to relax. It will be important to provide Liko with a ‘safe place’ like a crate or room that he can call his own and provide consistent training to help him come out of his shell. Liko needs a home with no cats but could benefit from a dog-social companion in the home. If you feel like Liko is a good match for you, inquire about him today! You can meet Liko and other adoptable animals at Kitsap Humane Society, open for walk-up appointments on a first-come, first-served basis. www.kitsap-humane.org
