Kitsap Humane Society Waiving All Fees on Big Dogs through Jan. 1

December 7, 2023

website creator Silverdale, WA – As a special holiday gift for the Kitsap community and to make room for more incoming resident companion animals, Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) will be waiving adoption fees for all adult dogs (older than one year) over 40 lbs. This promotion will be in effect through the end of the year.

The waiver of adoption fees is in response to an overwhelming number of strays and dogs surrendered in recent weeks, putting the organization over capacity in housing adult dogs.

“Like many shelters across the country, we’re bursting at the seams with big dogs,” said KHS Communications Director Mike Bush. “That’s why we’ve decided to extend a little gift to the community and will be waiving fees on these wonderful pups until the end of the year. It’s a great time for families to welcome a new member of the household, just in time for the holidays.”

Kitsap Humane Society is open for adoptions from noon to 4 p.m., every day except Tuesdays. For dogs 6 months and older, all people in the household are required to come to the shelter for a meet-and-greet before an adoption can be approved or finalized. Additionally, if you have other dogs in your home, they must accompany you to the shelter to ensure a good match.
