December 2, 2021
Kitsap Humane Society Participating in Petco Love Vaccine Initiative
KHS is participating in Petco Love’s allocation of 1 million free pet vaccines to its existing community-based animal welfare partners to distribute to family pets in need. We are thrilled to join together with Petco Love in taking action to help end life-threatening diseases, preventable by vaccines, in our beloved pets. Vaccines distributed under this initiative are the DAPPv Canine and HCP Feline vaccines in partnership with Merck Animal Health.

PEDIGREE Foundation Awards KHS $15,000 to Support Dogs in Foster Care
KHS was notified in November 2021 that we are a recipient of a $15,000 PEDIGREE Foundation Program Development Grant to expand our operational capacity to increase dog adoption rates. KHS is among just 24 shelters and rescues receiving this vital funding. Specifically, KHS will use this grant to help more dogs be successfully adopted by ensuring robust foster care opportunities. This will be achieved by increasing foster recruitment, adding foster options for those who are away during the day, enabling adoption directly from fosters, and providing behavior training for fosters.
What is PEDIGREE Foundation?
Formed in 2008 by the makers of PEDIGREE® food for dogs, PEDIGREE Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping dogs in need find loving homes by supporting the good work of shelters and dog rescue organizations throughout the country. Through no fault of their own, more than four million dogs end up in shelters and rescue organizations every year, and nearly half of them never find a place to call home.

KHS Receives $3,000 Grant from Community Cat Coalition
KHS has just been awarded $3,000 from the Community Cat Coalition to support our Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program for Kitsap and Mason counties. This funding will support the work of staff and volunteers who go to cat colony locations, trap the cats, spay or neuter, ear tip, vaccinate and return back to the colony – all at no cost to the colony caretaker.
What is Community Cat Coalition?
The Community Cat Coalition (CCC) believes that compassionate solutions to cat overpopulation help our communities as well as the cats. Today, the CCC improves the lives of community cats through education, spay-neuter, and support for the volunteers doing TNR in our neighborhoods and towns.
Thank you to all of these dedicated and charitable organizations for supporting our pet lifesaving mission!
