Kitsap Humane Society’s PetsWALK through downtown Poulsbo – involving more than 400 animal lovers and their pets — is an annual highlight of summer and an event we all look forward to. Then the coronavirus came along. BUT INSTEAD OF CANCELING, KHS decided to get creative and make it a VIRTUAL 5K this year!

What does that mean? PetsWALK allows you to walk, run, skip, skateboard, jump on a trampoline, dance or jog on a treadmill for pledges to provide lifesaving support for shelter pets at KHS. Between June 1-30, you can do this PetsWALK on your own time, anywhere you choose. And you can wear whatever you want – whether it’s pajamas on the treadmill or a tutu as you run in the neighborhood. (Hint: there are contests for prizes – including a costume contest!)

This year’s PetsWALK is perfect for our friends and their animals who don’t do well in crowds. In this PetsWALK, it’s your race at your pace!

Sponsored by Poulsbo Animal Clinic, PetsWALK is a great way to involve the whole family – including the pets – in exercise and giving back to the community. There’s also an online Pet Expo highlighting all the local businesses who support the animals. All proceeds from PetsWALK support the care of homeless, injured and neglected animals in need at Kitsap Humane Society.
