Everything You Need to Know for PetsWALK!

The weather will be WARM! (The high at 4 p.m. is predicted at 77 degrees). Dress appropriately and wear sunscreen. We will provide water bottles along the course but it’s also good to bring your own. If your furry family members don’t tolerate heat, consider leaving them at home. There will be pet water stops along the course and at the waterfront. We’ll be keeping an eye on the temps and can close early if it’s too hot. We want everyone to stay safe!

Early T-shirt & bandanna pick-up will be the day before PetsWALK, July 20, at Poulsbo Animal Clinic, (19494 7^th Ave Poulsbo, WA) from 1 to 3 p.m. Or you can pick up your T-shirt (if you bought one) and bandanna at KHS on July 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. If you can’t make either of those times, you can get them at Lions Park starting at 7:30 a.m. the morning of PetsWALK. If you pick up your shirt and bandana early, you don’t need to wait in line or check in when you arrive the morning of PetsWALK.

Parking is at either Gateway Fellowship (18901 8^th Ave NW, Poulsbo) or the Poulsbo First Lutheran Church (18920 4^th Ave NE, Poulsbo). Make your way to Lion’s Park (585 NE Matson St., Poulsbo) for the 9 a.m. race start. It’s never a bad idea to arrive early, especially if you plan to pick up your bandanna and T-shirt the morning of PetsWALK.

You can do the 5K (or 1-mile option) at whatever pace feels best to you! Run, walk, scurry or dance your way to the finish line. Once there, you’ll be handed a map of our Pet Expo. We have over 30 vendors at the Waterfront Park, (18809 Anderson Pkwy, Poulsbo) and they will hand out samples, coupons, and information about their products and how they impact you and your animals. We will also have THREE informative speakers.

The schedule of the day is as follows:

9:00 a.m. PetsWALK Begins: Join us at Lion’s Park, 585 NE Matson St., Poulsbo.

10:30 a.m. Race Awards at Main Stage: Prizes awarded to the first 5K adult across the line, first 5K youth under 12 across the line, and the first 5K animal across the line

10:45 a.m. Informative Speaker: Poulsbo Animal Clinic, Dr. Craig, Lameness in Pets

11:00 a.m. Kid’s Dash: Sign up at the KHS table inside the Pavilion behind the Main Stage

11:15 a.m. Informative Speaker: VCA Central Kitsap Animal Hospital, Dr. Cook, Fear-Free Summer Travel

11:30 a.m. Costume Parade & Contest: Sign up at the KHS table & meet at the Main Stage

11:45 a.m. Talent Contest: Sign up at the KHS table & meet at the Main Stage

12:00 p.m. Informative Speaker: West Sound Wildlife Shelter, Your Pets & Wildlife

If you’ve fundraised for KHS through PetsWALK, your fundraising prizes will be available at the Main Stage Pavilion. (Refer to your Pet Expo map when you cross the finish line!) You can also buy PetsWALK T-shirts, KHS sweatshirts, and tote bags at the prize pick-up area.
