No Place Like Home!
August 2, 2011
Today marks our kickoff for the 2011 ASPCA Challenge! Kitsap Humane Society competed with shelters nationally to earn the chance to compete in the ASPCA Challenge. Thanks to your support we are one of just 49 shelters competing. Today the Yellow Brick Road runs right through our shelter, showing our animals the way home. Our goal in the next 3 months is to adopt and return 300 MORE animals than we did after our amazing 2010 performance. We have many events and promotions in place, but today we celebrate the kickoff with a carnival atmosphere and fun activities. Can we win this challenge? Absolutely, but now is the time to get the good word out there. We’re in a race for lives. Kitsap Humane Society has made incredible accomplishments these last 2 years, with as many -or more- adoptions, surgeries, fosters, and returns than sister shelters with seven times our annual budget. We continue to prove that lifesaving activities depend first and foremost on a creative team with energy, drive, and ability. This challenge will be won through word of mouth, quick thinking, and a willingness to work hard together until we win Kitsap County recognition as the amazing pet community it is. See you at our upcoming events: Aug. 1 – Challenge Kickoff at Shelter Aug. 6 – Woofstock Aug. 6 – Silverdale Hallmark Challenge Kickoff Aug. 14 – Port Orchard Car Show Aug. 20 – Pits on Parade Aug. 27 – The Willows So, spread the word! http://www.parade.com/news/2011/08/01-aspca-100k-challenge.html We have highly adoptable pets available, including small purebreds and incredibly cute kittens.
