- About Us
By making a bequest to the Kitsap Humane Society in your Will, you can make a lasting contribution to the welfare of countless animals cared for at the shelter every year. Such bequests are also deductible for estate-tax purposes.
By preparing a Will, you make the decisions on how your possessions will be distributed to provide for family, favorite charities, friends and anyone else you choose. If you already have a Will, you can write a codicil (an addendum) that names the Kitsap Humane Society as a beneficiary of your estate.
To include the Kitsap Humane Society in your Will, you must specify the proper name and street address. Your bequest can be simply stated; for example: “I give to the Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Rd. NW, Silverdale, Washington, 98383, the sum of __________dollars.” (If you are leaving insurance policies, land or other property, please describe.) An attorney can advise you regarding taxes and other aspects of estate planning.
Careful estate and investment planning really can make a difference in your financial security today and the good you can do for the animals tomorrow. Your gift never stops giving. While you enjoy present benefits, your charitable gift ensures future protection for animals in Kitsap County by continued humane education, effective law enforcement of animal cruelty laws, Animal-Assisted Therapy programs, maintenance of a quality shelter, and proper animal care and adoptions.
Bequests to the Kitsap Humane Society are deductible from Federal Estate Tax. Savings can be substantial. A bequest to KHS can be cash, securities, real estate, or other property, i.e., stocks and bonds. In Washington state, no restriction can be placed on the amount given to KHS by Will.
Your gift to KHS will provide you with the satisfaction of knowing you have made a commitment that will endure long after your lifetime.
For more information on making a bequest please talk with your attorney. You may also contact Larry Bleich, Director of Development at Kitsap Humane Society, at 360.692.6977, ext. 1224 or email@example.com.
